"I will make it clear to everyone in Frederick County what is happening in County Government."
- Sam Newhouse
Transparency is not just about making documents public. It is about making government understandable. Every resident of Frederick County -- regardless of background, education, or experience with government -- deserves to know what their elected officials are doing and why.
Too often, government communicates in ways that are confusing, inaccessible, or simply absent. That ends with me on the County Council. I believe in clarity, and I believe clarity is often conveyed with brevity. Say what you mean. Say it plainly. Say it to everyone.
Government communication must be accessible to every resident. No jargon, no buried agendas, no fine print designed to obscure the truth.
Elected officials should communicate regularly and proactively -- not just when there is a crisis or a vote to justify.
When residents reach out, they deserve a timely and honest response. Accountability means being available, not just visible.
Clarity is often conveyed with brevity. The best government communication is direct, honest, and respects people's time.
Transparency is not a slogan for me -- it is a professional skill. Throughout my career and my work in activism, I have been a communicator. I understand how to take complicated policy issues and make them accessible. I understand how to listen to people and respond in ways that actually address their concerns.
This is what I have done professionally, and it is what I will bring to the Frederick County Council. Government should not be a mystery to the people it serves.
I envision a county government that operates with complete transparency and maintains a constant dialogue with the people. Not once a year at a town hall. Not through press releases written by consultants. Real, ongoing, two-way communication between elected officials and the residents they serve.
Frederick County residents are smart, engaged, and capable of understanding the decisions their government makes. They simply need officials who are willing to explain those decisions clearly and honestly. That is exactly what I intend to do.
Support a campaign built on openness, honesty, and accountability to every resident of Frederick County.
